Each month, the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) highlights a key resiliency characteristic to help students develop essential life skills. For February, we focus on grit—the ability to persevere through challenges, maintain effort over time, and stay committed to long-term goals despite obstacles.

Grit enables students to push through difficulties, embrace setbacks as learning opportunities, and develop a strong work ethic. Studies show that individuals with grit are more likely to achieve their goals, whether in academics, careers, or personal growth.
