Hamilton County Adult Education

The Hamilton County Adult Education Program seeks to reduce illiteracy and under-education among adults within Hamilton County.  The Hamilton County School District understands that basic educational skills are considered requisite for effective citizenship and productive employment.  Our vision is to increase the residents of Hamilton County's ability to effectively participate in the local workforce to better themselves and the community at large.

Programs Details

Program Requirements 

  • Provide a valid copy of Social Security Card (§ 1008.386 F.S.)
  • Complete the Adult Education Registration Form
  • Complete the TABE entrance exam 
  • Pay $45 tuition fee per one semester
  • If under the age of 18:
    • Consult with the Coordinator of Adult Education to obtain an age waiver signed by the Superintendent of Schools
    • Provide a copy of the withdrawal form from the last secondary school attended

 

Class Schedule

  • 9:00am – 12:00pm, Monday – Wednesday
  • Two semesters per year, August – December & January – May
  • Adult Education Program follows the Hamilton County School District Calendar in observance of holidays, teacher work days, and school closures

 

Program Completion 

  • Upon successful completion of the requirements for, and the subsequent awarding of the Florida High School Equivency Diploma, graduates will not be eligible to return to school seeking a high school diploma

Program Eligibility 

Hamilton County residents ages 18 years or older who are legally separated from the public school system are automatically eligible for enrollment.  Individuals ages 16 to 17 years may be eligible for enrollment by obtaining an age waiver signed by the Superintendent of Schools.  Persons ages 16 to 17 will be evaluated for eligibility on an individual basis, and approval of the age waiver is at the discretion of the Superintendent.
