SCHOOL BOARD ESTABLISHES DATES FOR 2016-17 FURLOUGH DAYS
All Schools and Departments Will Be Closed
As the school system works through a major budget issue, it has become necessary to implement changes so that the school district can continue to provide educational services while maintaining a positive financial position.
As a step to ensure that the Hamilton County School District returns to a fiscally sound position, the school board has approved two (2) furlough days in the 2016-17 school year. Furlough days are a part of a fiscal recovery plan that has been submitted to the Commissioner of Education to assist in returning the school district to a fund balance of 3% or more as required by statute. On April 24, 2017, the Board approved the following dates for the furlough days:
Monday, May 8, 2017
Monday, May 15, 2017
Students, school-based employees, and district level staff will not report on these days. All schools and departments will be closed. As a reminder to employees, leave time cannot be used for furlough days.
