FLORIDA BUSINESSES HONORED FOR THEIR INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., June 2, 2016 – Today, Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart honored nearly 50 Florida business partners in education with the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards were made during the Florida Chamber Foundation Education Summit in Orlando.

Hamilton County School District recognized PotashCorp White Springs as their business partner for 2016.  “Bill Donohue and Mike Williams are champions for education and always help promote Hamilton County students with support and financial contributions every chance they have,” shared Superintendent Tom Moffses.

“It’s a pleasure to recognize these statewide business leaders who have invested their time and resources to support Florida’s students,” said Commissioner Stewart. “Business partnerships provide valuable real-world experiences that are essential in preparing students for continued success on their academic journeys and beyond. These partnerships are mutually beneficial, and I hope that today’s event will inspire more business leaders to help students in their communities get ready to enter the workforce.”

The Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards, presented by Wells Fargo, are administered by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation to encourage successful alliances within the business community and among local school districts for the benefit of Florida’s students. Sponsors of the 29th annual awards program are MGT of America, Inc., FPL and Kyra Solutions.
